Jordan-Dead Sea

The Dead Sea – bordering Israel, the West Bank and Jordan – is a salt lake whose banks are more than 400m below sea level, the lowest point on dry land. Its famously hypersaline water makes floating easy, and its mineral-rich black mud is used for therapeutic and mud  treatments.

James Bond Island, Thailand

Shaken Not Stirred

Khao Phing Kan or Ko Khao Phing Kan is an island in Thailand, in Phang Nga Bay a 1.5 hour bus ride from our ship in Phuket. The islands are limestone tower karsts and are a part of Ao Phang Nga National Park.

Since 1974, when it was featured in the James Bond movie The Man with the Golden Gun, it is popularly called James Bond Island.

Penang, Malaysia

Took a tram up Penang Hill for a nice view of the city. After a walk around the botanical gardens I found a colonial era abandoned home and explored.

Then it was off to a Buddhist temple which had Thai and Chinese influences as well.

Kuala Lumpur-Skywalker

The capital of Malaysia KL, has so many  highrise buildings that dot the modern skyline. The 451m-tall Petronas Twin Towers, a pair of glass-and-steel-clad skyscrapers with Islamic motifs, is the 900 lb. Gorilla that rules the skyscrapers.

We only had 8 hours in this port and opted for the KL Tower and went up to the observertion  deck with a 360 view of all that KL had to offer from above.
