Hidden History: Though seemingly remote, this island has a storied past—from covert airstrips to secret operations, it has reinvented itself more than once.

🎬 Hollywood's Hidden Gem
It is not Gilligan's Island, but it has also been used for filming. The beach where Tom Hanks first encounters Daryl Hannah in Splash is right here on the island. The pristine waters and untouched beauty made it the perfect backdrop for mermaid magic.

I am not talking about staged authenticity, like my visit to Papeete, Tahiti. Most designers spend their time creating shopping malls. Re-creating the island paradise, however, is admirable. This is the best of the best—an I for an Island. Real paradise, real memories, real magic.
