Mexico Keeps Telling Its Own Story
Ancient ground, modern vendors, colour, movement, and the sense that the country continues beneath every passing visitor.
Mexico is an ancient thing that will continue forever, telling its own story in slabs of colour and slices of life.
Even beneath my flip-flops, I could feel the earth move under my feet.
The vendors, the wanting, the colour, and the movement were not background details. They were the pulse of the place.
Mexico does not wait for the traveller to understand it. It keeps telling its story anyway.

I Can See Clearly Now
Leaving Alaska behind and returning to Mexican light changes more than the temperature.
After all that Alaskan weather, I could finally see clearly now that the rain had gone.
Climate changes posture. Light changes mood. The same traveller becomes a different observer when the sky changes.

The joke worked because the border had become less a wall than a line crossed often enough to expose the larger geography.
