Art Worth Sea-ing

Art Worth Sea-ing

From Ocean to Ocean: Atlantic to Pacific

Traveling the world as an art dealer has offered me unforgettable views and lessons. Whether gazing over the Pacific in 2010 or the Atlantic in 2009, the beauty of the open sea often mirrors the creativity and possibility in my work.

Death by PowerPoint

They say, “Power corrupts, and PowerPoint corrupts absolutely.” While the language of business often relies on PowerPoint, the key is wielding it wisely. A great presentation should follow the 10-20-40 rule: 10 slides, 20 minutes, and 40-point font.

But let’s be honest: PowerPoint doesn’t kill meetings—people do. Like a loaded gun on the table, PowerPoint has the potential for harm if misused. It's up to the presenter to keep it impactful and engaging.

Presentations: From Tool to Talent

Switching from slides to live talks is like stepping into the world of stand-up comedy. In these moments, I draw on “in the trenches” war stories and re-create the energy of those experiences. Sometimes, the presentation tool isn’t the software—it’s me.

Art as a Show and Tell

At sea, business becomes an art form itself. As an art dealer, I’ve embraced live auctions as a blend of information and entertainment. These “show and tell” moments are more than transactions; they’re stories brought to life, connecting people to art in dynamic and memorable ways.

All You Need is Max

Whether channeling the colorful style of Leroy Neiman or showcasing the timeless allure of Mike Piazza, my goal is to create an experience worth “sea-ing.” Each meeting, auction, or presentation is an opportunity to entertain, inform, and inspire.

By letting the PowerPoint slides rest, I’ve discovered the power of human connection—a story, a laugh, or even just a moment of shared appreciation for the beauty of art.
