Galveston-No Sweat

I can bench press steam in the Sauna but not smoke on the water.
I just have to wait until the fog lifts itself.
This morning in  The Gulf ( off shore Texas)
Ah! The sauna onboard---nobody does it better than Disney's huge and usually empty one.

At 99% water, sharing space  is technically like breathing in your neighbor's arms and chest. Yuck.

The Lakota Ritual of the Sweat Lodge, however, is a spiritual tradition and  I respect The Cult of Sauna- time spent in "ritual space",and getting in touch with my  inner wild avatar. through Drums, Sweat and Tearsa wanna-be savage banging drums in the moonlight on weekend camp-outs to express my natural birthright of righteous anger and self-assertion.

I wanted to join the cult but all they do is talk about the cult--- I do remember one rant: It is  about hot and cold : purgatory and paradise; earth and fire; fire and water; sin and forgiveness. It is lyrical ecstasy. It is resurrection from the dead. It is eternal new birth… You are healed, you are made new.

10 minutes of a good sweat in the sauna, to purify my mind, body and soul. Sign me up.

"When you define me, you negate me'--so  let me tell my own idiosyncratic story. My autobiography gives dignity and meaning to me and the YOUniverse.

When  I started  blogging about  my  own experiences at sea, and the blessings and  gifts of this unique life style, I  started to answer the question-What is the meaning of life? I Got One!

Telling our own story is not something that we are  taught how to do. There  is a course called Life 101. The Earth school of hard knocks.Tuition is free, paid for with bad planning. Success is continued enthusiasm despite failure after failure; and nothing fails like excess.

The Earth school kills all of its students--It only ends once, everything else is just progress. Hopefully, you do things that get you out of your “jumping jack” default state of being-shopping and buying, and you go to the edges and profoundly  do your human homework.

You become an idiot (a Greek word originally meaning non-citizen), not buying into the shared hallucination of mediocrity. You relax and lower your standards and question everything. You are no longer separate, isolated or alone. You are just like everyone else. The clock has struck 13. What is deeply personal becomes  universal---this is the real internet and network---the collective unconsciousness.

Today, we live 10 times the experience of our ancestors of a 100 years ago. Flying so high that gravity hurts when we land and we are wounded by this excess of experience and the unexpected, that we are at least heroic and at most, almost holy.

The word “blessing” actually comes from the French blessure, which means “wound.” So, a blessing always has that other side to it, My cruising obsession (this invisible wound) is like a private religion. It’s where the bulk of my spirit is actually invested. Yet I have been divinely compensated. The wisdom of this excess is that We die to the present tense  and are born again in future perfect the heroes of our own lives.
