Cape Town Welcomes The Queen Mary 2

Keep Calm. Ship Happens!

What an  amazing feeling when boarding a ship we have sailed on. The QM2 is no miraculous exception.  This is not your typical cruise ship. In fact, it is the last of the great oceanliners- passage ships designed for 12 months brutal Atlantic crossings NY to SO'TON. Her keel sits higher above  the water line, 7 decks instead of 5, which makes it cut water better and makes for a smoother ride. Today, the first voyage segment SOTON to Cape Town is completed. This is part of the 2018 World Cruise Itinerary. We last sailed on her in June 2017:

Prior to that, In July  2014, We sailed on her.The Mary cames to Hamburg for her tenth jubilee and  she got a special celebration by the locals
QM2 @sea July 2014

After 6 sea days, we took a voyage, not a cruise onboard the Queen Mary2. This is the shortest bridge between New York and Europe. Airplanes, afterall, are like diets - I don't like being on them.
The QM2 allows dogs onboard-cute!
The Queen Mary 2 comes to Hamburg every year.
For her tenth jubilee she got a special celebration.
I took lots of videos, and posted them for my my friends on Facebook, but this one pretty much sums up the crowds enthusiastic response  as the flagship sails away down The Elbe River to open waters in the North Atlantic...

Stellenbosh-Achieving Grapeness

There is something cinematic about the Western Cape. It like walking through movie or a painting. You can't really write about it: you must undergo go it to get the full effect. Everywhere you turn is pay dirt-guaranteed vistas complete with mountains, clouds and farmlands.
Here in the vineyards, are some examples of this universal beauty

Fish Hoek, South Africa -Net Worth

After casting our seine and gill nets out to sea via row boat, the constant tug of war returns from the mighty shark-infested Indian Ocean yielded a solitary crab and Hake fish, respectively. Later, we discovered a basketball high top sneaker and small live-wired stingray. Hence the title, "Net Worth" for our dragnet haul.

A great workout nevertheless  I decided not to wear a hat today but the happy-go locals know better.

Cape Town -Worth Seaing

H2OMG-Praying for rain as the city is about to claim the distinction of the first place on planet Earth to run out of fresh water supply due to 3 consecutive dry seasons. With both the Indian and Atlantic oceans surrounding us, it is easy to forget about a drought as the Western Cape is drowning in natural beauty for seafarers. Returning here is a reminder of paradise. Stunning views, driving up this glorious stretch of coastal road, finding breath-taking views is not too much of a challenge. This lookout point on Boyes Drive in Muizenberg is a scenic spot must see.

Slim pickings-the city's thinnest house

I was 20 the first time I  visited London. Still love it. In fact, who doesn't! Today was no miraculous exception.

A tour of The Royal Albert Hall today, setting up for a show.

What on Earth!

The natural history museum reminds us of our origins.

East Grinstead,UK The Grass Is Greener

There is no such thing as bad weather only bad clothes. I got the Wellington boots on to walk through the rain and green muddy fields of Kent. Surrounded by some of the finest countryside in the whole of the South East of England, it is good to be back home.
